Accident in Oswego County State Route 3

OSWEGO COUNTY – Earlier this morning, October 3rd, 2026, at around 9:38 AM, members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident on State Route 3, near the intersection with County Route 7 in the Town of Hannibal.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a school bus transporting members of a Fulton City School sports team was headed westbound on State Route 3 when a sedan heading eastbound crossed the center line of the road and struck the school bus head on.  The bus ended up off the south side of the roadway and caught fire.  Two students and one school district employee were transported to Oswego Hospital with minor injuries.  The driver of the sedan was transported to Upstate Hospital with serious injuries.  State Route 3 will be closed for several more hours as the investigation and clean up continue.
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Oswego County Emergency Management, Menter Ambulance, Oswego County Fire Coordinator’s Office, Fulton City Fire Department, Granby Center Volunteer Fire Department, Hannibal Volunteer Fire Department, and Oswego Town Volunteer Fire Department.
This is currently an active investigation and more information will be provided later.
