Mayor Barlow Announces Independence Day Parade & Downtown Block Party On July 2

 Parade applications now available on city website

OSWEGO – Mayor Billy Barlow announced today the City of Oswego Independence Day Parade will be held on Sunday, July 2 at 1:00 p.m. beginning on Liberty Street, turning eastbound onto Bridge Street.

Following the parade, the city will host another downtown block party beginning at 2:00 p.m. along West First Street featuring live music with Off The Reservation, free activities for children of all ages, expanded outdoor dining space for restaurants, ending with fireworks launched over the Oswego River at 9:45 p.m.

“The city’s Independence Day celebration is always an awesome day in Oswego with plenty to do for families with children of all ages. From the traditional parade through downtown, followed by our exciting new downtown block parties with great music, food, and free activities, and finally the fabulous firework display over the river, we will have another terrific day with plenty to do,” Mayor Billy Barlow said.

Individuals or organizations interested in participating in the parade may find an application on the city website at www.oswegony.org, email [email protected], or can call 343-3795. The deadline to register is Friday, June 10.

Parade participants will compete for cash prizes with categories including best float overall, most patriotic float, most creative float, best youth performance float, and best non-youth performance float.
