State Police investigate fatal crash on Interstate 81 in Hastings

OSWEGO COUNTY – On October 30, 2026, at approximately 4:28 a.m., New York State Police responded to a fatal one-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 southbound near mile marker 112 in the town of Hastings.

A preliminary investigation determined that a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck, operated by Owen T. Ligammari, age 19, of Adams, NY, was traveling southbound on Interstate 81 when the vehicle exited the roadway into the median. Ligammari attempted to regain control of the vehicle, which subsequently overturned multiple times.

Ligammari was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. He was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he was pronounced deceased.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
