On October 27, 2026, at approximately 5:18 p.m., New York State Police responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on Brackett Road in the town of Hannibal.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by Michael A. Kelly, age 21, of Martville, NY, was traveling eastbound on Brackett Road when Kelly appeared to lose control of the motorcycle and was ejected into the westbound lane. Kelly was subsequently struck by a westbound 2015 GMC Sierra pickup truck operated by Shaun W. Mercer, age 52, from Hannibal, NY, who was traveling in the opposite direction.
Kelly sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
