OSWEGO, NY – Planning for one of the largest admission free festivals in the nation is well under way.
Harborfest 2015 is about six months away, but the part-time staff is dedicated to maintaining the tradition and excitement for this year’s event.
The Harborfest sites are being planned, the search for crowd pleasing entertainment is under way and already vendors are planning to take up residence for the 28th edition of the festival slated for July 23 – 26.
However, behind the scenes there are some new faces who hope to make major contributions to assist in the organization of this year’s event.
Cindy Loughrey has been named vendor-membership coordinator while veteran journalist-public relations professional Bill Foley will serve as public relations-media marketing director.
They join the team of Executive Director Doug Buske, Business Manager Barbara Manwaring and Sponsorship Coordinator Carol Dillabough in spearheading the organizational efforts for Harborfest 2015.
Buske said, “It a pleasure to welcome Cindy and Bill aboard. Their years of expertise in their respective fields will contribute to the growth of Harborfest and they will definitely bring some different ideas to the organization.”
Continuing Buske said, “Harborfest is one of the largest admission free festivals in the United States and we want that to continue. We could not do this without the massive amount of cooperation from the city of Oswego, Oswego Fire Department, Oswego Police Department, Port Authority, Oswego Department of Public Works, Oswego County, our major sponsors, our business partners, our ‘friends of the festival’ and of course the hundreds of community volunteers.”
A veteran journalist and public relations professional, Foley said, “This is a new door that has opened that will provide an exciting experience. Harborfest continues to evolve and it is a privilege to be promoting and publicizing an event that attracts not only Oswego County residents, but exposes our natural and entertainment resources to visitors from throughout New York, Canada and the Northeastern part of the United States.”
Loughery also is enthusiastic over her involvement in Harborfest. She has over a decade of experience in customer service at Fulton Typewriter and related businesses.
Of her new position she said, “This is a new challenge which I am excited to begin. Harborfest is an outstanding community event and it is my goal to be involved with food and commercial vendors who will bring a wide variety of choices to Harborfest.”
