OSWEGO, NY – Today, September 15, at approximately 5:45 a.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on a vehicle in the area of State Route 104 and City Line Road in the city of Oswego.
The driver and sole occupant of that vehicle, Cassie R. Bennett, 33, of 362 State Route 104 B in the town of Mexico was allegedly found to be in possession of materials used to manufacture methamphetamine.
A second search warrant was executed at 362 State Route 104B, Mexico, at approximately 7:13 a.m.
With the assistance of the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team the residence was searched and evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing was seized, police report.
As a result of both searches, laboratory equipment, chemical reagents, precursors and solvents used to manufacture methamphetamine were reportedly seized.
Less than one gram of methamphetamine was also recovered, according to police.
Bennett as well as Michael T. Bratchie, 34, of 362 State Route 104 B, Mexico, were arrested and criminally charged with one count each of:
Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in the 2nd degree- Class C Felony
Endangering the Welfare of a Child- Class A Misdemeanor
The charges allege that Bennett and Bratchie acted in concert to knowingly and unlawfully manufacture methamphetamine in the presence of children under the age of 16.
Both defendants are being held pending arraignment.
The Oswego County Drug Task Force is comprised of members from the Oswego County District Attorney’s Office, Oswego County Sheriff’s Department, NYS University Police at Oswego, U.S. Border Patrol, Fulton City Police Department and Oswego City Police Department.
