Mexico Students Help Out OCAWL/SPCA

MEXICO, NY – AmeriCorps member Missy Parkhurst helped students at Mexico Elementary School make pet beds for OCAWL/SPCA recently.

Students from Michelle Bush’s and Gina Sherlock’s first grade classrooms and the YMCA SACC program participated.

Other students brought in items from the agency’s “wish list” to donate.

About 40 kids, including first grades and SACC, took part.

Parkhurst cut out the fleece and cut the strips.

“Then, the kids tied the knots to put pieces of fleece together. We made 25 cat and dog beds,” she said. “Plus, other students brought in supplies from OCAWL’s wish list.”
