During this time she has actively given of her time and talents.

“I have volunteered and been involved with many resident activities, in addition to leading regular worship services with other area clergy,” said Rev. Summerville.

In her new role as Director of Pastoral Care, Reverend Summerville will minister to the spiritual and emotional well-being of Michaud residents and families.

And with her two and a half decades of experience with Michaud, what is one thing that may surprise others about the nursing home? Summerville made this observation, “The continued desire of residents to participate and be productive.” She added, “The elderly and not so elderly in nursing home settings have so much to offer all of us; it’s a community. Michaud is small enough to be personal and large enough to have great resources available to keep body, mind and spirit engaged.”

“Our Pastoral Care Program here at Michaud adds an important dimension to the overall care we provide,” said Mary Costigan, Michaud’s Administrator. “We are very fortunate to draw upon the experience and dedication of Rev. Summerville; she is a valued and respected member the greater-Fulton community and in her new role, a wonderful addition to our Michaud team.”

“My favorite part of working at Michaud is the relationships I am able to build with the residents and staff alike,” noted Summerville. “Those smiles I receive when I walk down the halls or enter rooms are priceless. If I can bring residents and their families a sense of spiritual contentment and trust, then my day is made.”
