Minetto Recognizes Its Sixth Graders

MINETTO, NY – Minetto Elementary School sixth graders were in the spotlight at the annual honors program conducted before a cafeteria-packed with parents, friends, family and staff members.

Principal Dr. Dean Goewey presented certificates to each sixth grader and also recognized several other students with special awards.

Minetto Elementary School recently conducted its sixth grade honors program. Involved in the event were (in front) Gina Bartholomew. Danielle DelConte, Alaina McMahon, Payton Reese and Lauren Jones, while in back are Principal Dr. Dean Goewey, Board of Education member Thomas DeCastro, Jacob Getman and former Minetto Principal Robert Stone.

The “Principal’s American Citizenship Award” was presented to Lauren Jones and Danielle DelConte while the New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman Triple “C” Award was given to Alaina McMahon and Payton Reese.

Former Minetto students Gina Bartholomew and Jacob Getman, who are members of the Oswego High School “Class of 2012,” addressed the students and provided them with some information that will benefit them in their academic journey through middle school and high school.

Several students were presented the “President Award for Educational Excellence” as they excelled academically and have exceeded proficiency on the New York State Test in English Language Arts and Math.

The recognized students included Hunter Blackburn, Danielle DelConte, Morgan Familo, Jessica Godden, Lauren Jones, Addison Lee, Alaina McMahon, Leah Mullen, Arlo Olson, Layla Perry, Payton Reese and Zachary Sova.

The “President Award for Academic Achievement” was also presented for outstanding educational growth, improvement, commitment and intellectual development.

The honored students included Griffin Axtell, Grace Bruns, Abigayle Christian, Zachery Crossman, Tiffany Ditton, Tyler Dohse, Isabel Dunning, Megan Durval, Samantha Gardner, Nathan Getman, Madison LeRoy, Matthew Mace, James May, Maria Pelkey, Abigail Roy, Lauren Samson, Hannah St. John, Amber Tickle and Griffin Vrooman.

Students also received awards for band, orchestra, vocal music, art, physical education, science, social studies, reading, writing and mathematics.

Joining Goewey for the presentation of certificates to the students were teachers Tracy Anderson,  Sara Scribner and Tanya Wadsworth.

Minetto sixth graders moving on to Oswego Middle School in September include Griffin Axtell, Hunter Blackburn, Grace Bruns, Robert Burkett, Tiffany Ditton, Kyle Dodge, Megan Durval, Morgan Familo, Mariah Galletta, Nathan Getman, Ryan Gimeno, Nicholas Gray, Zachary Haynes, Madison Hill, Lauren Jones, Addison Lee, Logan Pepper, Joseph Perras, Layla Perry, Abigail Roy, Lauren Samson, Tyler Shoults, Hannah St. John, Amber Tickle, Alex Vincent and Griffin Vrooman in  Anderson’s and Scribner’s classes.

From Wadsworth’s class are Zachary Bivens, Abigayle Christian, Christopher Cronk,  Zachery Crossman, Kaleya Dawley, Danielle DelConte, Tyler Dohse, Travis Dominick, Isabel Dunning, Samantha Gardner, Michael Gerard, Jessica Godden, Madison LeRoy, Matthew Mace, James May, Alaina McMahon, Leah Mullen, Aaron Neacosia, Arlo Olson, Maria Pelkey, David Pfeifer, Payer Reese, John Rice III, Dakota Sinclair and Zachary Sova.
