Fifth grader Jaxson Golembeski took first place and will be joined by fellow Minetto students Mathew Carr, Jr. (sixth grade), Daniel Callen (fourth grade) and Zachary Munger (fifth grade) in the Regional Finals, to be held at Oswego High School on March 17.

The Minetto Bee went more than a dozen rounds, with the top four spellers knotted up for several rounds before Golembeski broke the stalemate with the word “paralysis.”

The winner of the March 17 Regional Finals will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, held in Washington, D.C.
