On Sunday, September 26th Oswego Center and Southwest Oswego United Methodist Churches will participate in their 3rd “Mission Sunday†of the year. Although both congregations are active in missions throughout the year, this event will take members outside the walls of their churches and out into the community in mission. Four missions are planned.
Free bag lunches will be distributed at the Human Concerns Center, 85 E. 4th St. from 1 to 3P.M.
Lunches will include a sandwich, fruit, cookie and beverage.
A canned food drive, to benefit the Human Concerns Center will be conducted in Oswego Town from 1 to 3P.M. Flyers have been distributed in the town and members will be going door-to-door to pick up canned goods. Area residents may also drop off food donations at either Oswego Center or Southwest United Methodist church from 12 to 3 P.M.
The church youth will hold a car wash from 12 to 2 at the Southwest Oswego church. There is no charge for the car wash, but donations will be accepted to support Chelsea Aiosa’s Mission of Peace Trip to China later this year. Chelsea is the daughter of a previous pastor, Jeff Aiosa.
Free donuts, cider, coffee and balloons will be available from 12 to 2 P.M. at the Southwest church.
For more information about any of these events call Oswego Center UMC at 343-5666 or Southwest Oswego UMC at 343-0996.
All activities are intended to put into action the United Methodist theme of “Rethink Church…Church isn’t just someplace to go..it’s something you are and do!â€
