OSWEGO, NY – Oswego High School senior Anthony “Mooch” Miuccio has been selected as the “Musician of the Month.”
Miuccio is actively involved in many areas of the music program.
He currently plays tenor saxophone in the Wind Ensemble and plays baritone saxophone in both jazz bands.
During his time at OHS, he has played alto, tenor, and baritone saxophone in all of the performing ensembles.
He is also a five-year member of the OHS Marching Bucs where his presence has been instrumental in helping other members to reach their potential as people and musicians.
He is a leader in and out of the classroom.
He has organized a “Pep Band” that has performed at the high school hockey games this year.
This group is completely student run and he has taken the time to recruit band members, arrange and rehearse music, as well as making the arrangements with the hockey rink and coaches to find a spot to perform during the games.
One of the highlights of his musical career here at Oswego was receiving the New York State Field Band Conference Scholarship this past October.
He also excels outside of the music room as he is a member of the National Honor Society and is ranked in the top 25 academically.
He earned a second place finish at the Sigma XI Science Competition at SUNY Oswego earlier this school year.
Miuccio is planning on attending the Rochester Institute of Technology for mechanical engineering with an aerospace option.
In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching sports, hunting and fishing.
He is the son of Joe and Anne Miuccio.
