New Paltz Blanks Oswego State Tennis

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women’s tennis team was unable to keep pace with New Paltz in a 9-0 loss in the season opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at the Romney Tennis Courts.

Kelly Corwin (Sr., Rochester, N.Y.) and Olivia Knierman (So., Fulton, N.Y.) posted the best doubles result at the No. 3 position after falling to Alli Esposito and Jessica Schmidt, 8-1. The Hawks went on to win the remaining doubles points by the scores of 8-0.

In singles, Corwin won the most service games at No. 6 singles, but lost to Laura Tierney in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.

The Lakers return to action on Thursday when they open conference play at Geneseo at 4 p.m.
