FULTON, NY Ã¢â‚¬â€œ Andrea Burritt, program supervisor for Catholic Charities of Oswego CountyÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Parent Education Program, announced that the program has added a new parenting workshop designed specifically for parents of newborns up to one year of age.
According to Burritt, the three-week class will provide parents with an interactive learning experience that covers a variety of issues that are of utmost importance when raising a newborn.
Topics that will be discussed include:
Basic baby care, How to keep your baby safe, How to bond with your baby, Why taking care of yourself is important, Child development and milestones.
Ã¢â‚¬Å“We are pleased to be able to offer this new workshop,Ã¢â‚¬Â said Burritt. Ã¢â‚¬Å“We have been offering parenting classes for children ages 1 through 18 for several years now and with the addition of this new workshop series we will now be able to provide instruction for parents with children of all ages, from birth to 18. I encourage parents with children 1 year of age or less to attend this workshop.Ã¢â‚¬Â
The Parenting for Newborns workshop will be held on three consecutive Thursdays beginning Jan. 7 and continuing through Jan. 21.
All sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Oswego County Health Department, 70 Bunner St., in Oswego.
Burritt and intensive parent educator Savannah Spencer will facilitate the workshop.
