FULTON – The City of Fulton has awarded $100,000 in funding to local businesses through the Microenterprise Revitalization Initiative (MRI) Grant. This initiative aims to empower local businesses, foster entrepreneurship, and drive economic growth within the community. The City is thrilled to announce the commencement of Round 2 offering additional funding for micro businesses.

The MRI Grant serves as a catalyst for small businesses and entrepreneurs looking to expand, innovate, or establish their presence within the City of Fulton. By providing financial assistance and support, the grant aims to promote business investment, downtown revitalization, and new job creation for low-and-moderate income residents.

“We are excited to open Round 2 of the Microenterprise Revitalization Initiative Grant,” said Caroline Shue, Fulton Community Development Agency Assistant Director. “By empowering microenterprises, we are not only investing in their success but also enriching the fabric of our community.”

Microenterprises, defined as businesses with five or fewer employees, are encouraged to submit a Survey of Interest for the grant to access funding for various non-construction related projects including, but not limited to, inventory, equipment, furnishings, and working capital.

Key details of Round 2 of the MRI Grant include:

  • Survey of Interest Period: May 1 to May 31, 2024

  • Eligibility Criteria: Open to microenterprises within the City of Fulton with five or fewer employees. As a result of receiving grant assistance from this program, the business must be able to create or retain a certain number of jobs held by, or made available to, low-and-moderate income persons.
