
CENTRAL NEW YORK – Today’s national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.04, no change since Monday.
One year ago, the price was $1.97. The New York State average is $3.08 – up one cent since Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $2.19.
AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports the following averages:
Batavia – $3.01 (up one cent since Monday)
Buffalo – $3.00 (no change since Monday)
Ithaca – $3.00 (no change since Monday)
Rochester – $3.03 (up one cent since Monday)
Rome – $3.11 (up two cents since Monday)
Syracuse – $3.04 (up one cent since Monday)
Watertown – $3.13 (up one cent since Monday)
*Note: markets with no change have fluctuated less than one cent.
Higher demand will likely contribute to fluctuations in pump prices through the holiday weekend, particularly as AAA predicts 34 million Americans will travel by car – an increase of 53% from last year.
The latest reports show that total domestic crude inventories are down, while crude prices have increased this week. However, price gains have been limited by market concerns that increasing coronavirus infections around the world could reduce crude consumption this year.
