CNY – Airports and roads will likely be busy over Easter weekend
Many area schools will reopen on Monday, April 10, which means many families are returning from spring getaways over Easter weekend while some travelers are just preparing to head out. That means airports and roads will be busy.

AAA has tips for smooth travel:

Air travel:
Checkin online 24hours in advance and have the airline notifications enabled on your mobile device in case an issue arises that requires a change in plans.

Make sure the airline has your contact information and check your flight status online/app.

Arrive at the airport early especially at busy airports like Orlando (MCO) where baggage and TSA lines tend to be long.

If a flight is canceled, the airline must try and accommodate by booking passengers on an alternative flight. However, under federal law, you are entitled to a full refund if you request it. It could take time to recover this
money since more cancellations mean more people asking for refunds.

Road trips:
Pack your patience be prepared for heavier volume at common travel times over the weekend.

Make sure your car is road trip ready with proper tire inflation and adequate gasoline. AAA recommends having a certified mechanic look over your vehicle before a road trip.

Use the AAA mobile app to plan your route, search for the lowest gas prices in your area, or request roadside service.

Use caution avoid drowsy or distracted driving. Keep your eyes on the road and stay alert.
