COVID-19 Statistics Update, August 13, 2020

OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been two additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since yesterday.

The cumulative reported number is 262 cases across the county and of those, 249 have recovered and four have died.

Today’s statistics are below:

Oswego County: (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers.

  • Total # of active cases: 9 (yesterday: 7)
  • Total # of positive cases: 262 (yesterday: 260)
  • Total # of recoveries: 249 (no change from yesterday)
  • Total # of hospitalizations: 25 (no change from yesterday)
  • Total # of deaths: 4 (no change from yesterday)
  • Total # tests: 30,466 (yesterday: 30,263)
  • Total # of negative results: 29,999 (yesterday: 29,797)
  • Total # of people in mandatory isolation/quarantine: 81 (yesterday: 71)
  • Total # of positive antibody tests: 75 (as of Aug. 13)
  • Total # of negative antibody tests: 3,142 (as of Aug. 13)

The county has stopped releasing data for pending results, number of people in precautionary quarantine and total number completed/released from monitoring. Data will not be released on Saturdays or Sundays. Antibody test results are released once a week.

All known contacts of COVID-19 positive patients are being notified. In the event that a known case had public exposure when they were contagious, such as someone who worked in a restaurant, the county health department would alert citizens through the news media and social media.

Municipalities With Cases: Note: Schroeppel went from the 11-20 range to the 21-30 range today.

No confirmed cases: Albion

1-5 confirmed cases: Amboy, Boylston, Hannibal, Minetto, New Haven, Orwell, Palermo, Parish, Redfield, Sandy Creek, Williamstown

6-10 confirmed cases: Mexico, Oswego Town, West Monroe

11-20 confirmed cases: Constantia, Granby, Richland, Scriba, Volney

21-30 confirmed cases: Hastings, Schroeppel

31-40 confirmed cases: City of Oswego

41-50 confirmed cases: No municipality

Over 50 confirmed cases: City of Fulton

County Updates:

  • The Oswego County Human Resources Department will offer the Oswego County Patrol Officer and Village Police Officer civil service exam Saturday, Sept. 26. Applications for the exam are due by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19. Applications and additional information can be obtained by emailing [email protected], or by calling 315-349-8209, and at  http://www.oswegocounty.com/civilservice. The Municipal Police Training Council fitness requirements and a link to the exam study guide are also posted on the web site.
  • The county asks residents to respond to the 2020 census. To fill out the census, click here or call 1-844-330-2020 (English) or 1-844-468-2020 (Spanish).

New York: (as of yesterday)

  • Total # of positive cases: 423,440 (yesterday: 422,703)
  • Total # of deaths: 25,228 (yesterday: 25,218)

Other updates from the state include:

  • Governor Cuomo has partnered with New Jersey Governor Murphy and Connecticut Governor Lamont to create a joint travel advisory for individuals traveling from states with significant community spread of COVID-19, requiring a quarantine for 14 days when visiting their states.
  • Based on each region’s infection rate, schools across New York State are permitted to open this fall but each school district must have a testing and tracing plan and will decide if an in-person v. hybrid model works best for them while following strict Department of Health Guidance.
  • The State Police and State Liquor Authority are leading a task force to investigate and shut down establishments not complying with the safety standards of the state.

  • New Yorkers without health insurance can apply through NY State of Health through August 15, 2020; must apply within 60 days of losing coverage.
  • Health care workers can text NYFRONTLINE to 741-741 to access 24/7 emotional support services. Any New Yorker can call the COVID-19 Emotional Support Hotline at 1-844-863-9314 for mental health counseling.

  • Total # of deaths: 166,623 (yesterday: 165,328)
  • Total # of recoveries: 1,755,225 (yesterday: 1,714,960)

  • Total # of positive cases: 20,716,498 (yesterday: 20,428,562)
  • Total # of deaths: 751,269 (yesterday: 744,733)
  • Total # of recoveries: 12,872,921 (yesterday: 12,631,548)
