OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 214 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and two more county residents have died since Saturday, January 9.
New cases yesterday (Sunday): 129 and two deaths – This was a new record high of number of positive cases in one day.
New cases today: 85 and no deaths
“We must all do our part to protect our families and communities,” Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang urged residents. “Those who test positive should isolate themselves at home until contacted by the health department. Protective measures such as face-masking and avoiding non-essential gatherings must become our personal priorities if we hope to stem the rising tide of new infections. This is paramount to preventing future deaths.”
The Oswego County Health Department is also investigating three confirmed cases of COVID-19. Anyone who visited the following stores or restaurant may have been exposed to the virus and should monitor themselves for symptoms for 14 days.
- Walmart Supercenter, 1818 NYS Rte. 3, Fulton; between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6
- Thrifty Shopper, 57 E. Bridge St., Oswego; between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on both Monday, Jan. 4 and Tuesday, Jan. 5.
- Dahl’s Diner, 5125 NYS Rte. 104, Oswego; between 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 3 and between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 4.

Notes: The total number of positive cases in Oswego County is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.
SUNY Oswego reset its numbers for the Winter/Spring 2021 semesters and does not include numbers from Aug. 12, 2020 to Jan. 1, 2021.
