OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 106 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since Saturday, November 28.

New cases today: 54

New cases yesterday (Sunday): 52

Today there are currently 506 active cases in Oswego County.

SUNY Oswego reported two cases since Friday, November 27.

Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang said it is vitally important for people to comply with the Health Department’s isolation and quarantine requirements, and for parents to make sure their children comply with the requirements as well.

“Our nurses and public health investigators have the knowledge and skills to track cases and trace close contacts of people who have tested positive for COVID-19,” Huang said. “They want to use their expertise to help the community and they strive to make a real difference. However, we need the public to support their efforts by washing their hands frequently, wearing their face masks and social distancing. People who are in mandatory isolation and those in quarantine need to comply with the isolation and quarantine requirements. Parents must make sure that their children comply with the requirements, as well. We realize that isolation and quarantine requirements can be difficult, especially during the holiday season, but we need everyone to comply. We have increased our testing capacity, and our community continues to experience a rapid increase in positive cases. If we are to avoid a general lockdown, we need everyone to do their part to help stop the spread of COVID-19. A very important part of that is for positive patients and their close contacts to follow the isolation and quarantine requirements.”

Today’s statistics are below:

Oswego County: (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.
