OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been a total of 21 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and one more county resident has died in relation to the virus.

  • Wednesday: 3 new case
  • Thursday: 8 new cases
  • Friday: 3 new cases
  • Saturday: 1 new case
  • Sunday: no new cases
  • Monday: 5 new cases
  • Today: 1 new case

Moving forward, the county will no longer release COVID-19 numbers every weekday. Instead, it will only release these numbers on Monday afternoons, but will continue its bi-weekly county updates video every other Tuesday. Updated numbers will not be included in those videos.

As a result of this change in schedule, Oswego County Today will now post its weekly statistics update on Monday afternoons after the county results are released, and will also report on the county’s bi-weekly videos on the Tuesdays they are released. The next Oswego County Today COVID-19 statistics update will be posted Monday, June 21.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that COVID-19 restrictions are lifted immediately as 70% of New Yorkers aged 18 or older have received the first dose of their COVID-19 vaccination series. The full story can be found here.

Oswego County Legislature Chairman James Weatherup posted his bi-weekly county update video. In today’s video, he discussed the county vaccination rate and other various updates around the county.

“Although our seven-day accumulated COVID-19 case counts remain low, the virus is still in our communities and present a serious threat to our most vulnerable members,” Weatherup said. “I urge everyone who is eligible for the vaccine to get vaccinated and help us protect our communities.”

He said as of today, 60.9% of county residents aged 18 and over have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 53,582 residents have completed the vaccine series.

Weatherup also reminded residents of the ongoing broadband internet survey. Funding from the federal stimulus act and other sources will help determine where service is most critical and how to best improve it. Go to www.cnyinternet.com to complete the survey or call 315-412-5966 to request a paper survey. There are residential and business surveys available.

He also congratulated the Oswego County Health Department on receiving the 2021 Silver Innovative Practice Award for the COVID-19 Hotline from the National Association of County and City Officials.

Weatherup announced the county will not be releasing COVID-19 numbers every weekday as it has been. Instead, that information will be released once a week on Monday afternoons beginning next week, June 21.

Lastly, he reminded residents the Farmers Markets are now active in Oswego and Fulton. The schedule can be found here.

Notes: The total number of positive cases in Oswego County is cumulative since March 2020 and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.

The first two cases in Oswego County were confirmed March 22, 2020. missing or outdated ad config
