OSWEOG – Have you been counted? The September 30 deadline for registering for the 2020 Census is fast approaching and Oswego County Opportunities is reaching out to encourage county residents to be sure to submit their 2020 Census form before month’s end.
Representatives from OCO will be at a number of upcoming events to distribute information about the 2020 Census, answer questions and let community members know where they can access census registration forms.
“We’re collaborating with Oswego County on its “Let’s Be Counted” campaign,” Ellen Lazarek said. “Now through the end of the month we will have tables at events throughout the county. We are looking forward to meeting community members and impressing upon them the importance of the 2020 Census and the impact it will have on the future of Oswego County.”
Lazarek said that OCO will be at the following locations:
– September 19 at Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s Chicken BBQ, 808 West Broadway in Fulton from noon to 2 p.m.
– September 19 at the Food Distribution at the First Presbyterian Church, 4361 Church Street, Mexico beginning at 1 p.m..
Additionally, OCO will host virtual Open Houses on September 17 from 5 to 6 p.m., September 22 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., and September 29 from 5 to 6 p.m.
“We will be answering questions regarding the census and providing information about how to register for the 2020 Census,” Lazarek said.
The results of the 2020 census will impact Oswego County for the next ten years and help shape the future of Oswego County. Data collected in the 2020 census determines how federal funding is distributed to states and communities each year. Census data is used to support community initiatives involving legislation, consumer advocacy and quality of life issues.
