Fatal Accident In Oswego County

OSWEGO COUNTY – On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at around 11:45 p.m., members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist in the area of 2104 County Route 1 in the Town of Scriba.

Investigation revealed that a 2011 Chevrolet Impala was traveling Eastbound on County Route 1 when it collided with a male operating a bicycle towing a small wagon. The bicycle was also traveling Eastbound on County Route 1. A contributing factor to this accident appears to be a lack of visibility of the bicycle from behind. The operator of the bicycle was identified as Brian J. Lamond, 39, of Oswego, NY.  Brian was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet Impala sustained no injuries.

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were assisted on scene by Scriba Volunteer Fire Department and Menter Ambulance.

This incident is still under investigation.
