OSWEGO COUNTY _ March 24th, 2026, at around 11:11 AM, members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a one-vehicle motor vehicle accident on County Route 1, between Shore Oaks Drive and Nine Mile Point Road, in the Town of New Haven.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2019 Western Star dump truck was traveling westbound on County Route 1 when it left the north side of the roadway and struck a tree. The operator and only occupant of the dump truck, identified as Shy Stanton, was transported to Oswego Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Shy was 58 years old and a resident of Hannibal.
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, New Haven Volunteer Fire Department, Scriba Volunteer Fire Department, Mexico Volunteer Fire Department, Novelis Fire Department, McFee Ambulance, Mercy Flight , and the Oswego County Coordinator’s Office.
This incident is still under investigation.
