Band Instructor Charged With Selling School Musical Instruments

FULTON – Today (August 29), State Police in Fulton arrested James C. Demauro, 52, from 603 Berwick Road in Syracuse, for 25 counts of Falsifying Business Records 1st degree, a class “E” felony and 25 counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th, a class “A” misdemeanor.

Demauro, while being employed as a band instructor at the Phoenix Middle School, is accused of selling twenty-five band instruments belonging to the Phoenix School District to local pawn shops and then buying the instruments back.

All but three instruments have been returned to the school.

Demauro was arraigned in the Town of Salina Court and was released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to return to the Town of Salina Court on September 29 at 5 p.m.
