Youth in the area are invited to “Blast into the Past†through the History Days summer program at the Pratt House Museum, 177 South First Street in Fulton. This program, made possible through Oswego AmeriCorps and sponsored in part by the Fulton Polish Home, will teach children about both Fulton and American history through crafts and activities. Two sessions for ages 4-12 and a third session for ages 13-16 will be offered.
Session one for 4-7 years will take place on Wednesday July 9, 16, and 23. The second session for this age group will be on Wednesday July 30th, August 6, and 13. The historical topics to be discussed during each three day session are Nature and History, Early Home Life, and Early Entertainment.
The first session for the 8-12 age range will take place on Friday July 11, 18, and 25. The second session will be Friday August 1, 8, and 15. This age group will learn about Early Settlement and Transportation, War and Industry, and Entertainment and Art.
All sessions for 4-12 years will run from 9:30am- 12noon.
The third session for ages 13-16 will be on Tuesday July 15, 22, 29, and August 5 and 12 from 12:30pm- 3pm. This five-day session will give a behind the scenes look at a museum, as they research, design, and display their own exhibit as Junior Curators.
The cost for sessions one and two (ages 4-12) is $10 for the entire 3-day session or $5 per day. The third session (ages 13-16) is $15 for the entire 5 days. Family discounts available for 2 or more children. Registration is requested by June 27, 2008, as there are limited spaces available.
