FULTON, New York February 22, 2024 — The City of Fulton is proud to announce that the athletic field at Recreation Park, 609 W. Broadway in Fulton, is undergoing the first steps of planned future improvements.

Pop Warner Executive Board Member, Nicole Ames stated: “We are excited to be working alongside Chris Waldron, Director of Parks and Recreation, and so many others to make much-needed improvements to the fields. The children of our communities need a safe space and proper facilities to enjoy. The partnership and support from the City of Fulton is permitting us to upgrade the fields not only for Pop Warner but to provide room for the basketball program as well. A much larger number of children will benefit from these improvements thanks to the many people and organizations who have stepped up to support this vital cause.”

The first phase of improvements was the removal of the old bleachers as part of the plan to redesign the athletic area. This is one portion of the overall plan to improve a half mile of parkland that includes the softball field, Pop Warner field, C.W. Barrett Drive, Bullhead Point, the War Memorial and the ice rink.

Aided by the good weather, the removal of the bleachers was done early to accommodate the outdoor basketball courts which are due to be completed this summer.

Sean Broderick, of Fulton Community Basketball, said: “Fulton Community Basketball is proud to collaborate with Fulton Pop Warner and the City Parks and Rec to revitalize the fields and footprint on the War Memorial campus.  We look forward to our Dream Courts inaugural season in 2024 and bringing recreational programming to our community.”
