Neivel was a mother to two children. The candlelight vigil will be held in her honor on Thursday, April 20.

The gathering will begin at 6:30 p.m. meeting at the Fulton downtown gazebo located on South First Street across from Canal Street.

The group will then walk the short distance to the Oswego River for the candle light ceremony.

Organizers have asked anyone interested in attending to bring their own candles if possible.

Neivel’s family is aware of the ceremony and intends to be present.

Her sister has provided information for a Go Fund Me account to help “lessen the encumbrance of funeral costs, travel expenses, and finally to provide for the children’s futures.”

Neivel was found when a Fulton man was walking along the water with his young children on Sunday, April 9 and saw a body floating in the river. He immediately called 911, and Fulton police and rescue teams were on scene within minutes.

Fulton police sent the body to Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office who identified the woman as 39-year-old Amber Neivel from New Haven.

Neivel’s death is considered suspicious and Fulton police have an ongoing investigation in the matter.

They have asked anyone who had contact with Neivel between April 8 and 9, or anyone traveling on the Broadway bridge between 8 p.m. on April 8 and 2 a.m. on April 9 to contact the department at 315-598-2008 or 315-598-2007.
