Cordone Named BOE President Sixth Year In A Row

FULTON, NY – The annual reorganization meeting named the president, vice president and clerk of the Fulton City School District Board of Education.

For the sixth consecutive year, David Cordone was nominated and ultimately chosen to serve as board president.

“I am humbled by the unanimous support from my Board colleagues. It is a privilege and pleasure to serve my community and the students and staff of the Fulton City School District,” Cordone said.

Cordone’s commitment to the Fulton City School District was recently recognized when he received the Member of Achievement award by the Central New York School Board Association, “the most significant form of recognizing outstanding service by a school board member.”

Also returning to his position, board member Dan Pawlewicz was nominated and selected to serve another year as board vice president.

Tim Crandell was selected to serve as the board clerk, taking over for former board member Barbara Hubbard.

Replacing Hubbard and Robert Briggs as board of education members that did not seek re-election, Brenda Abelgore and Robbin Griffin were present as the newest faces among the board.

Griffin, who took her position on the board through write-in votes, is no stranger to the Fulton Board of Education having previously served 21 years on the board.

“It’s good to be back!” Griffin said.

Abelgore received the most votes of any candidate and also took her position through write-in votes.

“I’m just getting my feet wet, but I’m very excited to get started,” Abelgore said.

Among many resolutions, the board of education made several appointments and designations, approved the code of conduct and the professional development plan, reaffirmed all policies, and voted to maintain the same schedule for regular board of education meetings.

More information on the FCSD Board of Education including meeting times and agendas can be found on the district website.
