Council To Consider Requests For Use Of Public Space

OSWEGO, NY – At its meeting Monday night, the Physical Services Committee approved several requests for use of public space.

Council Vice President Connie Cosemento requested use of city property on behalf of Deana Masuicca.

The chair of the Novelis 10Kan Run wants to use Breitbeck Park and surrounding streets and parking areas on Sept. 19 and 20 for the second annual Novelis 10Kan Run events.

She also requested use of the first floor of the McCrobie Civic Center, use of the city bandstand and the Breitbeck Park pavilion for Sept. 20 only, with fees being waived for both.

Besides the 5K and 10K run, there will be a biking event this year, Masuicca said.

The committee gave the request a favorable recommendation.

Tony Leotta, city engineer, requested use of public space on behalf of Robert and Nancy Lasher.

The owners of a single-family home at 33 Smith Beach Road seek authorization from the city to continue utilizing a garden retaining wall.

Leotta also requested use of public space on behalf of James Basile.

Basile, representing Oswego Hospital Medical Care, 150 W. Sixth St., wants to install a handicap ramp fronting on West Sixth Street.

And Leotta also requested use of public space on behalf of Robert McGrath.

The owner of the Clubhouse Tavern, 126-126 W. Second St., wants to utilize five parking spaces in front of his business, fronting his property, from 8 a.m. to noon on July 26 in order to place tables and chairs together with a small tent in that area.

The purpose is to conduct his annual fund-raiser breakfast for the United Way’s Success by 6 program.
