SANDY CREEK, NY – The 18th annual best-testing drinking water contest will be held July 5, at the Oswego County Fairgrounds in Sandy Creek.

All municipal water supplies are eligible to enter.

The Environmental Division of the Oswego County Health Department sponsors the competition.

Fairgoers may taste samples of drinking water from municipal systems in Oswego County and vote for their favorites.

The contest will be held at the County Health Department’s display in the Economic Development and Tourism Building.

The contest will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We hold this contest every year,” said Natalie Roy, associate public health sanitarian for the Oswego County Health Department. “It’s a friendly competition to remind people of the importance of protecting our water resources in Oswego County and across New York State.”

The local winner will advance to a regional contest, and regional winners will compete for the state title at the New York State Fair in August.

For information on the drinking water contest, call the Health Department at 349-3557 or 1-800-596-3200, ext. 3557.
