Two cars hit head-on Wednesday in the town of Hastings and the crash left a 19 year old man dead.
State Police say the accident happened shortly before 10:00 a.m. on Route 11, just north of the Barker Rd. intersection.
Asha L. Reichel, 23, of 8 South Ave., Cortland was driving her Dodge Ram pickup southbound on Route 11. Police believe the pickup drove into the oncoming lane and smashed head-on into a Chevy Impala being driven by Cory E. Dinant, 24, of 5 County Route 5, Hastings.
The pickup flipped onto the driver’s side of the vehicle and stopped along the shoulder of the road.
The passenger in Reichel’s truck, Thomas E. Holmquist, Jr., 19, of 790 County Route 11, West Monroe, was thrown from the truck. He died at the scene of the accident.
Reichel and Dinant were taken to University Hospital in Syracuse with injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
