Dancers Support Local Autism Task Force

OSWEGO, NY – Dancers and instructors at Susan’s Academy of Dance are taking steps forward to support children and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder in Oswego County.

Dancers Support Local Autism Task ForceSusan Gardner, owner and artistic director of the studio, will give proceeds from her upcoming studio dance recital to the Oswego County Autism Task Force.

In addition, the dance academy will be the first studio in Oswego County to offer a unique “introduction to dance” class for children with Autism this fall.

OCATF is a local task force that seeks to enhance the lives of those touched by Autism Spectrum Disorder in Oswego County.

“Having Susan’s Academy of Dance show such support will help our Task Force for years to come,” explained Julie Chetney, OCATF chair.

The three- year-old task force has established a resourceful web site, put together a printed resource guide, and has organized several local Autism awareness events.

“Our task force is looking forward to offering workshops, seminars, play groups and many other opportunities to children, families, and caregivers who are living with Autism,” Chetney continued.

Susan’s Academy of Dance will present its 17th annual recital entitled “Light up the Stage” on Saturday, June 14 at 7 p.m. in the Oswego High School theater.
