Do This Tonight: See “Don’t Tell Mother” At G. Ray Bodley HS; See A Photo Gallery

Members of Quirk’s Players from G. Ray Bodley High School are preparing for the curtain to rise on their fall, 2009 production, Don’t Tell Mother!. The fast paced farce will be presented Friday, November 13th and Saturday, November 14th. Curtain time is set for 7:30 pm. each evening in the Bodley High School Auditorium.

Don’t Tell Mother! centers around meek and mild Cinnamon Schmidt, a 35 year old librarian who works in Downtown Chicago at the library’s main branch. Cinnamon is preparing a special dinner at home where she plans to introduce her fiancé to her mother. She forgets about her dinner though when she witnesses a bank robbery that day near work. In the midst of police officers and news reporters investigating the robbery, Cinnamon is able to flee from the bank and return home only to find more trouble. A federal agent is there to investigate illegal gambling and tax evasion while the bank robber is on his way to get Cinnamon after learning of her identity. Cinnamon’s fiancé then telephones to inform her that his demanding over bearing mother will also be joining them for dinner. Nervous, scared and confused, Cinnamon turns to her neighbor and best friend Deedee Malone for help. Cinnamon and Deedee are forced to think quickly as mistaken identities, oysters on the ceiling and an attacking vacuum cleaner threatens to ruin the evening. The madcap chaos creates an unforgettable evening for everyone.

Fulton’s production of Don’t Tell Mother! includes two members of the GRB Class of 2010 in its small cast. Senior Silvie Castelluccio stars as Cinnamon Schmidt while Senior Travis Cowart portrays Hobart Berelzheimer, her boyfriend and fiancé. Castulluccio has appeared in several productions with Quirk’s Players at G. Ray Bodley High School, starting in elementary school when she portrayed an orphan in their production of Annie. Cowart, on the other hand, is joining Quirk’s Players for the first time as he appears in his first production.

“This is always bitter-sweet for us,” explained Tom Briggs, a teacher in the Fulton Schools and theatre director at G. Ray Bodley High School. “It’s wonderful to see how our students grow and mature on stage, but it’s also sad for our group. We are losing two talented students and we’ll miss them after graduation.” Briggs explained that both seniors will be honored after Saturday night’s performance of Don’t Tell Mother!.

Don’t Tell Mother! will be presented through special arrangements with Samuel French, Inc. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $6.00 for senior citizens and children 12 and under and will be available at the door. Seating is general admission. For more information, please call 593-5400.
