DOT Holds Public Meeting Tonight On Rt. 69/Munger Hill Rd. Safety Project

The New York State Department of Transportation will hold an open house meeting on a safety project at the intersection of State Route 69 and Munger Hill Road in the village of Mexico, Oswego County. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Mexico town office located at 64 South Jefferson Street in Mexico. Representatives from the Department of Transportation will be available to answer questions throughout the open house. No formal presentation is planned.

The project will include realigning the intersection of Route 69 and Munger Hill Road, replacing sidewalks, and resurfacing or reconstructing the existing pavement. The purchase of some additional right of way will be necessary.

Two methods of maintaining traffic on Route 69 during construction are being considered: either full closure of Route 69 with a signed detour along State Routes 69, 11 and 104; or keeping traffic onsite with alternating one-way traffic with flaggers during the day and two lanes running on a gravel surface at night. Both methods will require that Munger Hill Road be closed to traffic at the Route 69 intersection for approximately one month. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring of 2011.

This open house meeting is part of the continuing effort by the department to encourage public participation into the development of transportation projects.

The location is handicapped accessible. Please contact Janet Dziergas, P.E. at (315) 428 – 4345 if a sign language interpreter, assisted listening system or other accommodation will be required to facilitate your participation in the meeting.
