OSWEGO, NY – On June 7 the eighth annual Joseph “Pete†Griffin Memorial Golf Tournament is set to take place at Griffins’ Greens with Entergy as the premier sponsor again this year.
Proceeds from the golf tournament go to the American Red Cross disaster services.
The Red Cross and Brian Griffin, tournament coordinator, are happy to have Entergy as a partner helping support this fundraising effort.
Each progressive year has Entergy playing a larger role in the tournament with this year’s donation being $4,000.
Entergy supports the tournament and in turn the Red Cross disaster services efforts as part of its community involvement and support program.
Pete Griffin was an avid Red Cross supporter who in his lifetime gave donations of blood regularly.
As a way of remembering and honoring his grandfather, Brian Griffin began coordinating the tournament eight years ago.
It has grown progressively each year in both the number of people playing and also the amount of funds raised and presented to the American Red Cross.
Each year old friends, new friends, family members and many others come together on this one day to celebrate the memory of Pete Griffin.
The shotgun start will be at 8 a.m. and teams are being registered daily.
The four-man captain and crew format encourages men, women, mixed, experience and novice players to come out and enjoy the day while supporting an important cause.
The day’s events include 18 holes, a cart, a hotdog and drink at the turn, games, prizes, and a dinner immediately following at “The Deck†at G.S. Steamers.
