FULTON – On Friday, 10/11/24, Fulton Police were dispatched to the intersection of State Route 481 and State Route 3, for a personal injury motor vehicle collision. When they arrived, they learned that a male riding a gas powered motorized bicycle had struck the side of a delivery van.
Initially the male on the bicycle appeared to sustain only a leg and head injury, but upon arrival at the hospital, it was determined he had more serious internal injuries. The bicyclist later died at the hospital as a result of his injuries.
Based on a preliminary investigation, it appears that the driver of the van, identified as Eldon Mills, 29 years old of Fulton, was traveling north on State Route 481, and had the green light. The bicyclist was traveling east on State Route 3, and passed through the red light at the intersection, resulting in the collision. The bicyclist was identified as Scott M. Collins, 60 years old, of Fulton.
There was no indication of drug or alcohol involvement in the collision, and no tickets are expected to be issued.
