There are many resources to help property owners organize their block for the Block Builder Challenge.
FULTON, NY – Fulton Block Builders have been getting a lot of calls since announcing the acceptance of Pre-Applications (go to https://www.fultonblockbuilders.com/) on March 1st, 2017.
Most people are busy organizing their blocks already but some are a bit confused and even sometimes wondering if there is a “catch.”
There are many resources to help property owners organize their block for the Block Builder Challenge.
First and foremost, there is no “catch,” there is no income requirement, there is no payback!
Each block simply needs to organize, sign you name to a pre-application, talk and plan with your neighbors and get ready to start making improvements this spring and summer.
All work must be completed by October 31, 2017 to qualify for the matching funds.
How do the matching funds work?
Each participating property owner in a Challenge Block (any block in the city can apply, however priority is given to Target Area blocks) is eligible to receive a dollar-for-dollar match on exterior improvements (visible from the street) up to $1,000.
If $500 is spent, a $250 match will be made. If $2,000 or more is spent the match will be $1,000 (minus taxes.)

To receive the matching funds, participants must submit all receipts and invoices at the conclusion of their project. Fulton Block Builders will review the materials, take a picture of the completed work, and send a reimbursement check to the participant. (Note sales tax on purchases cannot be matched only the before tax purchase price.)
In addition to matching funds, participants will be eligible to receive special discounts from sponsoring hardware stores and garden centers. (A list of sponsors and the applicable discounts will be available when the Challenge Blocks are designated).

What improvements are eligible?
Painting, Mailboxes, Porch repair, Exterior lights, Soffit repair, Front yard landscaping, Sidewalk repair Front doors/screen door, Flower Boxes, Shutters, and more….
This is a GREAT opportunity for city home owners. All are encouraged to organize your neighbors and submit a very simple Pre-Application. FBB will then send each block an Ambassador to answer questions and help to complete the final application.
