Fulton CYO to Kick Off Summer Recreation Program

FULTON, NY – The CYO Summer Recreation Program at Catholic Charities of Oswego County will begin July 7 and will continue through Aug. 15.

The Summer Recreation Program is offered free to children ages 6 to 14 (children must be 6 years old by July 1 to participate) and is held Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Extended hours, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., are available upon request based on the needs of the family.

Children enjoy a variety of special events and activities designed to aid in the recreational development of youth in Fulton, as well as the surrounding communities of Oswego County.

Children may attend the CYO Summer Program daily, or whatever days they choose, however participation is limited to the first 75 children each day.

Activities in the CYO Summer Program include daily recreational activities, outdoor recreation at local parks, special presentations and awareness groups, arts and crafts, a reading program featuring guest readers, themed game days, and other fun activities.

The special themed days, to be held July 18th, August 1st, & August 15th, include games, movies, snacks, and a piñata reflective of that day’s theme.

Game days will be held on July 11 and 25 and Aug. 8.

Games days will be held at the G. Ray Bodley High School athletic complex and feature a variety of outdoor activities.  Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams.

Children will also have the opportunity to discover the game of tennis with instructional classes to be held at the G. Ray Bodley tennis courts on every Thursday throughout the summer.

Tennis instruction is sponsored by the USTA through the Oswego City / County Youth Bureau.

A trained staff supervises all activities and assists all participants as needed to ensure that they receive the full benefits of the program as well as help in their physical and mental development.

Children receive a free lunch daily through the USDA Summer Feeding Program sponsored by the Food Bank of Central New York.

Parent participation in the CYO Summer Program is encouraged and appreciated.

Parents are welcome to attend game and themed days, assist with the reading program, and become involved in the many activities that the program provides for their children including the annual talent show.

The CYO Summer Recreation program is funded in part by the United Way of Greater Oswego County, the NYS Office of Children and Families, and the Youth Bureau of Oswego County.
