FULTON, NY – A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital is holding a benefit golf outing July 12 at Emerald Crest Golf Course on Route 3 east of Fulton in Palermo.
The second annual tournament is being coordinated by the Lee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Proceeds will benefit further upgrades to the hospital’s Laboratory Services Department.
According to Auxiliary President Tom Brown, “It is the auxiliary’s mission to support the hospital, and the planned improvements to Lee Memorial’s laboratory will benefit the community for many years to come.â€ÂÂ
The laboratory is one of the hospital’s busiest ancillary departments, with nearly 100% of outpatients and inpatients requiring some level of blood or body fluid testing.
Patient volumes have increased steadily for the past six years.
To meet the growing demand for laboratory services, Lee Memorial recently upgraded several instruments, including installation of the Abbott Architect ci8200 Integrated Analyzer system.
“This analyzer can run 1,000 tests per hour, and perform several complex tasks simultaneously. It’s one of the most efficient, accurate, and reliable analyzers available,†said John Bagenski, MT, ASCP, administrative director of Lee Memorial’s Laboratory Services.
The department also has acquired new centrifuge and breath alcohol testing instruments.
Golf proceeds will assist in renovating the physical space to further improve workflow and accommodate increased demand for services.
“We appreciate and welcome the community’s support for our golf tournament,†Brown said.
