Fulton Police Charge Elbridge Man after Traffic Stop

FULTON, NY – Fulton Police today (March 30) arrested 24-year-old Hector R. Rotunno of Old Route 31 in the town of Elbridge.

He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, criminal impersonation in the second degree, and making false statements contrary to the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Fulton Police allege that Rotunno was stopped in a vehicle he was driving for a traffic infraction on March 25 on State Route 3 in the city of Fulton.

After being stopped, Rotunno presented the officer with an identification card and volunteer fire fighter badge, that he claimed were from the Phoenix Fire Department, and attempted to persuade the officer not to issue him a ticket based on his affiliation with a fire department, according to police.

After further questioning and investigation, the officer determined that Rotunno was not a member of any fire department, and that the identification card he presented was forged.

It is further alleged that the vehicle Rotunno was operating had volunteer firefighter plates on it.

Rotunno had fraudulently obtained these plates by submitting a forged letter from the chief of the Phoenix Fire Department to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, police said.

Rotunno was arraigned in the City of Fulton Court, and remanded to the Oswego County Jail without bail. missing or outdated ad config
