FULTON, NY – The Fulton Police Department recently welcomed its newest member, Meki, a 15-month-old Male German Sheppard.
Meki, who was born in Holland, graduated K-9 training with the Syracuse Police Department on May 31, with his handler Officer Jarrett Marino.
Meki is currently trained in building searches, tracking, handler protection and suspect apprehension.
Meki and Officer Marino will continue their training in the fall when they will attend detector school.
There Meki will receive his certification in narcotics detection.
Meki is replacing Fulton Police K-9, “Rika,” who just retired after patrolling the streets of Fulton with her handler Sgt. Craig Westbrook since 2005.
