Fulton Police Make Arrest In Armed Robbery

FULTON – On 05/11/24, Fulton Police responded to the Byrne Dairy, located at 1013 Emery St. in Fulton, regarding an armed robbery.  The victim told officers that a male approached him while he sat in a booth inside the store and robbed him.  The suspect held a large knife against the victim’s side and ordered him to turn over all his property, including money.  The victim gave his cellular phone to the suspect, but had no money.  The suspect then head butted and punched the victim in his face, and left the store with the victim’s phone.  On 05/14/24 at about 7:30 PM, the suspect was located by officers on S. Fourth St., and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.  The suspect is identified as:

Kevin J. Vandelinder, 38 years old, of Oswego

          Charges: 1 count of Robbery in the first degree – Class B Felony

                        1 count of Criminal possession of a weapon third degree – Class D Felony

                           1 count of Assault in the second degree – Class D Felony

                           1 count of Menacing in the second degree – Class A Misdemeanor

                           1 count of Resisting arrest – Class A Misdemeanor

Vandelinder was arraigned in CAP Court on 05/15/24 and remanded to the Oswego County Jail, on no bail.  A warrant has also been issued for Vandelinder by New York State Parole, for a violation of his post release supervision conditions.  Vandelinder had just been released from prison in March of 2024.  Anyone who may have information regarding this case is asked to contact Sgt.
