Geitner Named Director of Student Support Programs

FULTON, NY – During the recent meeting of the Fulton Board of Education, Geri Jones Geitner was appointed to the position of Director of Student Support Programs.

In this position, Geitner will assume oversight of K-12 programs covering counseling and psychological services, speech and speech pathology, special education, school-home intervention services and GED/adult literacy.

Geitner currently serves as secondary assistant principal at Fulton Junior High School and will transition to her new responsibilities as recruitment for an assistant principal is completed. Geitner also served as a school social worker for the Fulton school district. Prior to that, she was employed as a social worker for Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES.

Prior to beginning her work in public education, Geitner supervised the office operations of United States Senator Barbara Boxer.

Geitner earned a bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College and a master’s degree from Syracuse University. She also completed a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from St. John Fisher College and holds New York State administrative certification.

Following the appointment, Superintendent William Lynch stated, “Geri has extensive training and experience in programs that support students’ academic success and their success an citizens of the school and community.

“Geri’s skills make her uniquely qualified to insure programs that support students are designed and aligned with district goals and responsibilities,” he added.

Lynch noted that “as a graduate of Fulton school district and a community resident, Geri possesses a keen awareness of the needs of our students and is clearly committed to their success.”

“Geri has held leadership responsibilities in both school and community activities and I am confident she will be successful in her new position,” Lynch said.
