Great Regional and National Talent Coming to the 32nd Annual Memorial Day Salute

The 32nd annual Memorial Day Salute, May 24 and 25, held at the Fulton Community Center on West Broadway, will feature the Magical Mystery Tour.

This popular Central New York Beatle Tribute Band will perform on May 24 at 7 p.m. and will be sponsored by National Grid.

On May 25 Rob Garrett “King of Diamonds,” a Neil Diamond Tribute Band, sponsored by Fulton Savings Bank, will take the stage at 8 p.m.

There will be an array of local talent including parade bands, G Ray Bodley High School Jazz Band, Fulton Community Band, Fulton Dixieland Band, the Magic of Virgil, the music of Rick Bush and Vince Markowsky.

The G Ray Bodley High School Jazz Band will open on May 24 at 5 p.m.

The Jazz Band, directed by high school band director, Terry Caviness, is made up of high school students. The Jazz Band has won prizes in regional and national competition and performs music from the Swing, BeBop and Big Band eras.

Rick Bush will present his vocal stylings at 6 p.m.

Exploding onto the stage at 7 p.m. will be the Magical Mystery Tour, a group of four musicians who have come together with one common passion… the music of The Beatles.

At 10 p.m., a gigantic fireworks display by Pyrotecnico and sponsored by Community Bank N.A. will conclude the evening’s activities.

On May 25, immediately following the 10 a.m. parade, several parade bands, sponsored by Cayuga Community College, will perform on stage in the Community Center.

At 2 p.m., the Magic of Virgil will amaze young and old alike. Virgil has developed a dazzling, larger than life show, blending the most engaging aspects of audience participation with the spectacle and high drama of stage illusions.

The Fulton Dixieland Band will play at 3:30 p.m. with the Fulton Community Band taking the stage at 5 p.m.

The band, directed by Carol Fox, features musicians from throughout Central New York and is active all year, performing at many local functions including the Pavilion Summer Series of Concerts.

At 6 p.m., Vince Markowsky will entertain and at 8 p.m. Las Vegas award winning performer Rob Garrett, King of Diamonds, a Neil Diamond tribute band will be featured.

It is sure to be a very nostalgic, musical event.

This year’s Memorial Day Salute theme “America, United We Stand” will celebrate pride and patriotism in support of our servicemen and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom then and now.

Alfred Myhill, Veteran of the Year, will serve as the Grand Marshal of the parade.

The event opens on May 24 at 5 p.m. and will include fireworks on Friday night, the Saturday morning parade on May 25, great food and drinks, rides for the children and  wonderful entertainment for all to enjoy.

All entertainment is offered free to the public.

The event is sponsored by the local service clubs: Rotary, Sunrise Rotary, Lions Club and Kiwanis along with the Veterans’ Council along with Fulton Savings Bank, Community Bank N.A., Cayuga Community College and National Grid.
