On Saturday, May 4, 11 local paddlers participated in Canal Clean Sweep for the historic Battle Island area of the Oswego River.
Very little littler was found along the shoreline.
Stopping to view and explore Battle Island, an abandoned and deteriorated campsite was discovered.
The group took apart, bagged and paddled out the deteriorated materials, leaving no trace for the pristine wooded area.
High water levels and weather prevented the group from participating the week before.
