Hannibal Library Plans Third Annual Festival of Trees

Submitted by the Hannibal Free Library

HANNIBAL, NY – The Hannibal Free Library is once again having the Festival of Trees (and Wreaths), Nov. 17 and 18 in the Community Center on Oswego Street.

The event features trees and wreaths donated by individuals and local business in the Hannibal area, then sold through a silent auction with proceeds going to the library. The bidding starts at 9 a.m. Saturday and ends Sunday at 4 p.m. This allows time for the high bidders to pickup and pay for their winnings in time to join the tree lighting in the village square at 5 p.m.

There will be a theme category this year from the poem “The Night Before Christmas” for those who might like to win the People’s Choice for best execution of the poem or verse in a tree or wreath class. Winners will be chosen by votes from the attending public.

Santa’s Workshop will be open in the library from noon to 4 p.m. both days for children’s crafts. They can make a cookie canister, decorate a wooden snowman, make a bookmarker and more. This will, as in the past, turn children into elves.

There will be a prize basket for an adult, with the winner drawn at the tree lighting, and for those 20 and younger, the library will have a drawing for 52 free movie rentals, maximum five per week, to the lucky person.

There will be coffee, punch, and fabulous cookies for all. It’s free and open to the public.

To donate a tree or wreath, one can pick up an entry form at the library or call 564-5471 with any questions. missing or outdated ad config
