FULTON – In a recent interview with Johnathan Weldin, he shared his motivation for stepping up to address community issues. “I really like to see our community build on the momentum that Ryan has started to take care of some of the crime and drug problems,” Weldin said. Having previously run for office to see change in his ward, he emphasized the importance of accountability and mutual support among residents.

When asked about their initial plans, Weldin admitted, “I’m not sure yet. Honestly, I’m trying to get up to speed on everything. It’s only been a couple of days.” He is currently focused on understanding the progress made over the past year and ongoing projects.

A lifelong resident, Weldin grew up in Hamilton but has lived in Fulton for nearly 18 years.

Reflecting on the city’s current state, Mr. Weldin expressed optimism: “I feel we’ve made good progress since the current council and mayor were elected. If we can continue that progress, the city can start to rectify some of the problems we’ve had over previous decades”.

Weldin also mentioned his plans to consult with Ryan, who has offered support and guidance as he takes over his role. “I’ve known Ryan quite a while, and he has a lot of faith in me. I hope to fulfill that,” Weldin added.

During the Fulton Common Council Monthly Meeting, Mr. Weldin will be appointed as the sixth ward councilor on Tuesday, February 4th, at 7:00 pm.
