FULTON – Tuesday’s Fulton City Council meeting had two public hearings on the agenda: Chapter 465, Article IV, “Aggressive Panhandling,” and Local Law Moratorium on establishing Boarding/Rooming Houses. No one spoke during the first hearing. Councilor Campolieto commented regarding the Moratorium for the Boarding/Rooming Houses law that the code is vague, and the planning committee needs time to consider the resolution. There was a response from the back of the room regarding the Moratorium on Boarding/Rooming Houses. The question was, would Victory transformations, a program-based organization, be considered part of this Moratorium? Councilor Avery answered yes.
There were several proclamations at the opening of the meeting. The first proclamation recognizes May as Mental Health Awareness Month in the City of Fulton. It emphasizes the importance of mental health as a key component of overall wellness, noting that nearly one in five U.S. adults experiences a mental illness annually. The City is committed to fostering a supportive community that provides resources for mental health. It highlights the essential work of local organizations, such as the Oswego County Suicide Prevention Coalition and Oswego Health, in promoting awareness and offering critical services. The proclamation calls for community support in mental health education and recognizes the efforts of advocates and professionals, affirming that help is available and recovery is possible.

The City of Fulton officially proclaimed Teacher Appreciation Week from May 5 to May 9, 2025. This recognition highlights teachers’ important role in shaping future citizens and their commitment to providing quality education to all students. The proclamation encourages the community to appreciate teachers’ dedication and hard work.
A resolution of honor has been created for Ralph R. Rennie, a dedicated firefighter with the Fulton Fire Department who served from November 10, 1961, to May 21, 1985. His 24 years of service were marked by courage and commitment as he responded to numerous emergencies, putting himself at risk to protect the community. His bravery inspired fellow firefighters and comforted residents. The City of Fulton acknowledges his contributions and expresses deep condolences to his family, recognizing the significant loss felt by all.
