FULTON – In accordance with the Governor’s mandate of creating a Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative, the City of Fulton has taken the necessary steps to comply by the April 2021 deadline.
“With the creation of this collaborative, we will be able to better understand how we can best police our community to ensure safety, fairness and equity for all,” said Mayor Deana Michaels.
The collaborative consists of a cross section of the community and includes local residents, Cayuga Community College, the LGBTQ community, small businesses, minority community members, our senior community, retired border patrol, our faith based community and those with past police interaction.

Mayor Michaels shared “I look forward to working with this team of individuals to highlight the successes of our department and address the issues head on. I have no doubt that we will have a solid plan adopted by the council and in place by April, one that will be used as a guiding document in future policing efforts and initiatives.”
Chief Craig Westbrook said “I welcome the opportunity to engage in conversations with community members to continue to improve and grow our police department in a way that best serves our community.”
The first meeting of the Committee will be on December 15.
